As a student, you will find a good job or internship if you:

-- Work hard and take strong steps along your path to success
-- Form good relationships with people in your community
-- Help employers solve their problems
-- Volunteer to help with local projects

Resources on this page can help you make progress to a good paying position. Learning to use geoscience knowledge and information technology tools while working on projects in your community is a great way to start on your way.

For example, rural Alaskan students have helped out on local or regional cultural atlas projects. Often, students begin with small jobs on projects, and then advance into internships and paying jobs as they gain more experience, skills and education.
